to a free Chess OCR program called Chess Scan Intelligent. It allows to convert scanned chess diagram to a computer readable file (FEN, EPD, PGN). But it seems like the link doesn't work anymore. Is there anyone who knows where I can download it? Or is there someone who has it and is ready to send it to me by email? |

Chess news: Game of the Year Nominee -- This is the time of the year when it seems as if everyone and everything is getting nominated for best this, or worst that. The chess world has been part of the action since 1967, when a group of chess experts starting bestowing a “Chess Oscar” on the best player of the year. The competition is now run by the Russian chess magazine “64.” The winner of the Chess Oscar for the last two years was Viswanathan Anand of India, the world champion. (Anyone want to wager that this year’s winner will be Magnus Carlsen of Norway, the 19-year-old who has become the youngest chess player to be ranked No. 1 in the world?) Choosing a best player seems like a reasonable idea. But ... A Bold Opening for Chess Player Magnus Carlsen -- Vladimir Kramnik, former world chess champion and current No. 4, is playing in the first round of the London Chess Classic, the most competitive chess tournament to be played in the U.K. capital in 25 years. Tall, handsome and expressionless, he looks exactly as a man who has mastered a game of nearly infinite variation should: like a high-end assassin.
